Seriously though, the musical interludes were strange. I only screencapped a few but there's like 5 of them in total. And they're bizarre and happen in real time. It's ... it's peculiar.

So I was rewatching Yami no Matsuei, and I forgot how utterly perfect the first 3 episodes are. So much promise, so much awesome -- and then, well.

As a friend of mine once said about the manga "Finally the editors were like, dude, sensei, you just can't mind-rape Tsuzuki all the time. Enough is enough, man." so she just stopped writing the series, because at some point you realize you've raped your protagonist to itty bitty psychologically-scarred pieces and there's nothing left to do. Or something like that.

But, man, do those first three episodes set the bar so high. You're like OMG THIS IS AWESOME -- but it's not. It's tragically not. I bought all 14 volumes of the manga and all 13 episodes of the anime hoping it'd be worth it, but it really wasn't. I think I sold the manga a while back and just kept the anime because, really, those first three episodes...

Also did I ever tell you about the time I ran into an ex-boyfriend at anime convention, and he was dressed like Muraki? H'aaawkkkwwarrrrd!

I just realized that I packed up my computer and everything and won't have internet for a few days ... and I didn't get the recent batch of Thursday shows to watch (Penguindrum, iDOLM@STER, Mayo Chiki notably).

sad day. Oh well, maybe I can use this time to marathon Hanasaku Iroha and some of my backlog. Yeah, that's what I'll do.

Kamisama No Memo-chou is good so far! A bit like gosick, but with successful mystery, rather than some psuedo-magic asspull at the end of every episode. Also, has a great main character. He, realistically, needs an oxygen mask after bluffing the yakuza.
